Needs Dela Fusion 360 Wanted

Hi Folks,

If any of you is Strong Mentally and willing to explain a Chatastrophic Fusion Beginner (yes I can draw plates with Holes an some not so extraordinary Stl) in "tell me like I'm 5 year old toddly woddly"  style following Procedere :

I want to make my Front and rear grill fit my mod's like following :

Extrude left and right sid of the grills about 50 mm so the fit the bigger build.

Extrude the Frame profiles 100mm.

Usually I just extrude or press/pull my simple constructions. Matter of fact : the voron parts have rounded corners and some other nifty things that drive me crasy.

I get consolidation errors about fade and rounding that can't be transformed,  after erasing them I find out that there are parts I can't delete.

Now I did give up for now.

2 possible ways to go on :

Extrude the main part 50mm, shove all holes inserts and so on and leave the rest ( hell I know I have to print with rafts then *crys*)

2.

*sings* when I was younger so much younger then todayyy I not needed helping anyway

Rest of the song is well known and I'm asking that( if you like I will sing it and send it 🤣🤣🤣l

So would be nice to get a helping hand.

Ceers

Ropus

I'll help you. Been designing stuff on CAD every day for the past 35 years, Fusion for the past 4-5 years. Can you take a screen grab of the part you want to modify and sketch where and how you want it stretched or holes moved etc.? Then I can give you some tips to get where you need to get to.

Can't be tru. 20 years ago there were no usable 3d cad.

Cad12 to 14 with 2d matrix and the possibility to stretch out 3d Explosion Drawings.

No true "3d" but the ability for drawing in a third Dimension.

I remember doing that in my mechanical School as a "training"

And it was a Aluminium extrusion when I remember correct.

Just my quarter of illness.

Good old times. My first CAD, 20 years ago was 2d. I had "touchscreen" with all commands and a pencil . The worst part was to search for lines on top of other lines.

OH yes I remembering the time here in Germany with the old 2d tools. We did get a student version that I did use to draw AL the wooden stuff that we did pack in our cars for the Hifi tuning 🤣🤣🙈.

OK back to topic,  just mentioning that I am willing to diskuss that in another thread or private I need to get the Stl in here 🙈🙈🙈🙈.

here the same but ev3n more worse.

the lines with Z a can extrude but it extrudes with a 45 degree angle cause  the region in Z and the red Stripes are like a second Part of the Model.
I go a little nuts with that.

OK, All of your problems can be easily solved. The reason why you're having trouble is that you have certain features in the way that are preventing you from making the changes you want. So here's what you do... 1. Click "Capture Design History". image.thumb.png.e7258ab361215fd722c57e3dc6785a39.png2. Select the fillets. 3. Press Del and delete the fillets.

4. Move the geometry to the new location.

image.thumb.png.808555f46e7f59f36309dff3b9ed3a8b.png

5. Use fillet command to recreate the fillets that you deleted previously.

6. Drink beer and admire your work.

Use the move command to move the holes (by selecting faces)... Not press pull. When you move faces you must move the faces connected as well. What I mean by that is this. Select the sides, bottom and chamfer of the hole/s then it will move, forget one of the adjoining faces and it will not.

First, tell me what you want to do.

Do you want to make them longer? If so, how much longer. Do you want the left and right sides to meet in the middle and eliminate the center piece. Or are you going smaller?

Once I know what you want to do I can step you through the process.

When we get that done... you'll be able to modify pretty much anything.

I just made them 50mm longer so they fit to the middle piece.

My SW is +100mm in X, Y, Z.

I just need to calculate the Grills and the bed cover.

I have a seperat housing that I can use,  just need to make a wind tunnel for the electronic part.

First of all is making the grills fit.

So 50mm more to the inner site. That way the rail stays in the middle.

OK, I'm going to show you a method that will allow you to make it so that both lengthening and shortening the part is just a function of editing one number. Once you understand the concept behind this method, you will be able to apply that concept to other parts.

Let's go.

1. Make sure the "Capture Design History" is on. Also make sure the you have component "Grill:1" activated. Aslo hide all the the other components like screws and threaded inserts and stuff for clarity.

image.png.94dc0151595d7a39944fcf57c50cae1a.png

2. Create two planes. Select "Mid-Plane" and create two planes as shown. You need to select the two faces on either side of the center rib (blue) and then repeat the command to create the plane to the left.

image.thumb.png.07b4896505a6b749de10064e1eba68ae.png

3. Select the "Split Body" command and select the two planes as your "Splitting Tools" and the model as your "Body to Split". Accept and the body will now be cut into 3 discreet bodies. What we want to do here is have 3 seperate bodies that we can move or duplicate however we want. For this exercise we'll keep it simple and make the part longer. I turned off the planes so you can see the cuts better.

image.thumb.png.285ef3c29e87dc1b1df07a9da9dd560f.png

4. OK, Let's move some bodies. Here I use the move command and translate X 100mm (use the "translate" move type, it can be edited to a different value)

image.thumb.png.829d44120ea157deed42d98951d681cf.png

5. All we need to do now is a "Rectangular Pattern". Pattern 5 of the middle pieces 25mm and Viola!

image.thumb.png.8f6092bf85204276a2347e78cbe18999.png

6. Last step before calling the wife over to show her how brilliant you are... Select "Combine" and combine all the bodies together into one "longer or modified" printable part for your custom Switchwire build. Oh, and don't forget to print it in a horrible pink, baby blue or lime green color.

Awesome! I guessed correctly, just change 100 to 50mm in my tutorial and you're good to go. You can just mirror the body for the other side. 👍
