VzBot 330

Looking good @TitusADuxass

Looks like they changed the hotend wires. Mine has these rigid Nichrome wires from the heating element extending out to the right. Yours is much better. Can you take a few photos of the toolhead for me? Front/Side shots if possible.

Yeah... the VzBoT DIN rail clips suck ass, and I'm being nice. 😆 The old school Voron ones are the best IMO. I use those exclusively. 👍

Same on the one I have received, therefor have not mounted it yet - will be interesting to see the photos as well

Thanks - seems I'll have to "gently" bend those two rigid wires as you have - was afraid to damage it.

They take a surprising amount of effort to bend them, I was a bit concerned that something would give.

Thanks @TitusADuxass I thought I saw that they had changed the hotend wiring but it looks the same. Looks like they just removed the techflex and heatshrink to reduce some of the bulk.

I noticed that your thermistor wire is resting on the hotend wire. Those wires are going to get hot as they are literally the heating element for the hotend. I don't think that thermistor wire is going to like being there very much. Sorry to say this but you need to move that. That's going to be a big problem down the road.

Thanks mate, I'll move them out of the heat.

Gents,

Which motor is which?

I've been googling like a madman and can't find anything.

I know we have X, X1, Y & Y1, where are they on the frame FL, FR, RL, RR?

Hey @TitusADuxass Sorry I didn't see this sooner.

This was a big problem I had with my build. Looks like they changed the manual as mine were flipped.

The image below is the correct motor designations and location (top of image is rear of printer)

Here's a link Mellow Super8

Wire colors are as per my crappy coloring job below.

@TitusADuxass You're welcome, Bud. 😎👍

Something to make a mental note of (or hit me up) for when the time comes ...

When you initially setup the motors, X and X1 need to both rotate in the same direction relative to one another and the same goes for Y and Y1, because they're pairs. So, for example if the X was rotating left and X1 right, you would change the direction pin for one of them, so they rotate the same. Now once you get the X's and the Y's paired up. If when you try homing X and the X axis is moving the wrong way... then you have to change the direction pins for both X & X1, because they're a pair. Same for the Y.

Hope this isn't too confusing.

On the one hand I love that we can get inexpensive electronics and hardware from China. On the other hand, I hate the cheap copies they make of pretty much everything.

It is the duality of life I guess, the yin and yang I suppose.

Gents,

I need your assistance once again, this time it is the Y endstop switch and its mount.

This is the only mounting bracket that I have left in the boxes. It doesn't match with what's in the documentation.

I cannot fathom how it mounts, I know that it should go somewhere in front of the X1 (FL) motor.20240523_140052.jpg.18779cdb70bfa920b6d96b06dd849b4d.jpg

@TitusADuxass I remember that I had to hunt for that location myself.

The VzBot is different than a Voron in that a Voron homes X to the right and Y to the rear where the VzBot homes at 0,0 the front left corner.

Just hit me up if there's anything not fully explained because... there's a lot of stuff in the VZ instructions that's not fully explained. 😄

Don't worry I will. You and @mvdveer are my back up team in this build. The documentation does leave a lot to be desired, so it's good to have knowledgeable people in the background.

Yeah, I have said that the VzBot is not the first printer kit someone should build. You really need the experience of building one or two Voron kits before building a VzBot because plenty of times you're like... Where the heck does this go? Welp, I guess I have to figure that out. 😄
