Disaster Strikes!!

Whilst fiddling around the back get ready for the next upgrade, this happened.

Upon closer inspection, it looks like the USB socket securing tabs were badly soldered to the board. Both of the securing tabs show no signs of being soldered. The only things that were keeping the socket on the board were the 16 micro sized contacts.

Fortunately I have a spare board in my stash, and I had backed up most of the config files. Unfortunately, I forgot to set up the github back up for the Vz.

@TitusADuxass How are your solder skills? Straighten the pins on the USB C connector, clean the soldering pads on the motherboard, including the retaining tab pads, apply flux, and attach the retaining pads and then the pins one by one. From your photo, it looks like none of the motherboard pads are damaged or pulled. You'll need a fine tip on your soldering iron. If you're not comfortable with repairing fine someone with the skills to do so. This is an easy fix for someone with the right skills.

My soldering skills are okay for normal sized wires, etc. 

I couldn't keep my hand still enough to do this.

Sometimes the repair ends up being more expensive than a new board.

FWIW... You can get a hot air soldering station for ~$40 US on Amazon but then again... that will probably drive the cost of repair over the cost of a new board.

And, the local repair shop said they can repair my old board for Ca. 25€.

If it were me... 😆

I'd also pay the 25 euro. I mean why not right?

I'm sure you're already thinking the same thing.

Yikes!! - Some layer-shifting there alright! And it seems consistent towards negative X. Belts? Some binding? Loose motor gear? (You know we get warned about using that blue stuff on grub screws😀)

It could be a motor syncronisation problem, a motor and belt check is first on the list this weeken.

The motors were not out of sync, but there is a problem.

When I home all everything is fine.

When I home X and then Y (or just X or just Y) and then try and move the toolhead along in 10mm steps I get a Must home axis first error (for X it occurs after 30mm, and for Y it occurs after 50mm of movement).

The error is consistent, but only happens when I individually home either X or Y.
