Completed the final termination of the external wiring only the touch probe to wire to the 3-pin Deutsch when it arrives. Temporary installation of the tool setter, I'll need to re-mount when I get the X fixture installed.

Z stepper motor wiring completed and secured

Routed and secured the thermistor for the rad temperature monitoring.

Replaced the front feet support with the tilt mod feet support since they bolt to the table with four screws instead of just two (front and side screws). IMG_2391.thumb.JPG.2702be69afea047d08ce8ecb856026b8.JPG

I thought I'd try this (3D printed panels) instead of having a bottom panel cut since it can't be seen when the mill is upright. Thanks again @Penatr8tor for designing & sending me the file from the bottom panel.

I received the water-cool fittings I was missing to connect the tubing to the water-cool components.

This M8-1mm pitch male x 10mm hose bard. The tube fitting shipped with the spindle didn't fit the 10mm ID tubing that I had.

The vent fitting for the water reservoir that relieves the internal pressure when the water warms up. Printed end caps for the 2040 just need to install them.

The G1/4 coupler so I could connect the water flow/temperature gauge to the reservoir.

Using my variable power supply, I connected the 12v for the gauge and pump. I got the water system filled.

Coolant is distilled water and PC coolant die.

More parts came in today LDO starter kit, Fixated Plate, Saunders Vise. Now I know why the fixated plate was cheaper from this site, holes drilled but none are tapped. I'm ok with that I'll drill and tap to the size I want. Word on the Saunders Vice the mounting hole in the vice doesn't line up with the 20mm on center holes in the fixated plate(Update: I ordered the wrong vice this one is the 1/4" and needed the M6 one, it's ordered). I'll make a fixture to mount it to existing holes. Vice is made to line up with their fixture plate. I need to drill and tap for the tool setter and also, pick up my dad's old drill press - tap tap tap! 🙂

What coolant is this?

There are 189 holes in this plate, and the last M6 hole tapped! 😓 I've ordered a bunch of M6 fasteners to use with this plate.

After the first hole I would have chucked that tap in a drill and power tapped. That's just me tho.

I thought of that, but using a drill with a tap you lose the feel for how much torque is being applied to the tap. I find that you get a better start alignment by doing it by hand. But I do get doing it mechanically would be easier and faster.

By hand or CNC'd on the Milo?

Inquiring minds want to know... 🧐🤔

By hand, I still need to wire the 220V power in the workshop to complete the start-up checks and tram the mill.

I received the correct M6 vice (totally my mistake), reversible jaws and two M6  fixture pins (on the right of the photo)IMG_2435.thumb.JPG.b3071d9a6bd688ef5258da10034d8438.JPG

Fixture pins are used with the Saunders vice's fixed side or with a custom fixture so it aligns in the same location.

The latest addition is an 80mm LED Halo on the spindle to light up the workspace on the fixture. The halo mount was cut down to fit on the spindle these are parts left over from a headlight mod. I need to wire it up to 12V.
